A question regarding herpes?

Me and my husband have been having unprotected sex for 4 years now. He has herpes and I haven't ever gotten it from him. I get tested every two weeks mainly because of my job and our 4 month old daughter had been tested the day she was born and at her 2 month check up and we both always test negitive. The doctors said that she won't get herpes from my husband at this point. I am wanting to know if I'm playing a game of chance is it possible that several years of having unprotected sex with him when he isn't on an outbreak and sometimes when he is on an outbreak that I can still get herpes?
